Music The Universal Language (2019) - Digital Collage

"Music: The Universal Language" (2019) - Digital Collage - Anthony D Kelly

Music is the language of the soul, it moves every feeling part of us. It often provokes love, tears, tension, joy, wonder, sadness or any mixture from the rich pallet of human experience. By touching into such a core part of each of us, it transcends spoken language.as it moves across borders and boundaries.

Music carries an emotional history of the people and places of its origin. It can serve to bind together communities which exist distant from their homes, or as an introduction for our own culture when we venture into foreign lands. Music is a universal language, it communicates the experiences of a people on this earth in a way that runs much deeper than words.

Her line was:

"The Architecture of Sound" (2019) - Digital Collage - Anthony D Kelly

Part of the So Many Styles, So Many Symphonies Series. The Architecture of Sound is a Digital Collage that celebrates minimal musical styles and compositions. Minimal styles span various genres including the contemporary classical forms of composers such as Phillip Glass, Micheal Nyman and Steven Reich, reaching through electronica via the ambient works of Brian Eno and Mike Oldfield, into minimal techno acts such as Bonobo and La Fleur.

Minimal musical compositions are marked by luminous points of sound and subtle variations in repetition which underpin elegant sonic structures. Through carefully considered constellations of musical interaction, these works demonstrate the rich emotive musicality that is invoked through paying careful attention to the individual elements of a composition, and how they are finely altered by their relationships to one another.

"Set Synths To Stun" (2019) - Digital Collage - Anthony D Kelly

Part of the So Many Styles, So Many Symphonies Series. Set Synths To Stun is a Digital Collage that celebrates the evolution of electronic music through the introduction of synthesizers, drum machines and polyphonic keyboards. These new and powerful tools enabled an unprecedented range of sound manipulation and the ability to electronically replicate a wide variety of instruments, giving even one musician an awesome range. This new found freedom ushered in a fresh era of experimentation and possibility, giving birth to a huge variety of new musical work.

It lead to the vast and expansive sounds of acts likes Jean-Michel Jarre, Brian Eno and Kate Bush. The technical supremacy of Kraftwerk. The fantastically unapologetic pop-cheese of bands like Spandau Ballet and Men Without Hats; while setting the stage for the darker edgier tones of Depeche Mode and Joy Division, as well as other amazing acts of this era such as The Human League, Soft Cell, Gary Numan and Tears For Fears.

In recent years the creation of electronic music has crossed new thresholds with the advent of live digital sampling and the powerful and elegant accuracy of software manipulation. While these have provided new ways and means for artists to experiment and evolve, they owe their rich heritage to the distinctive sounds of the pioneers of this period.
