Poetry x Collage Residency 2022:
When I saw the opportunity to take part in a poetry and collage specific residency I jumped at it. I had at this time being experimenting for several years with poetry (Fever Dreams) and short stories (Rare Monster Archives) in combination with my collage practice. This residency from the Kolaj Institute really helped me learn more about the variety of poetic forms and structures available and to think about collage practice in ways that are similar to visual poetry. Throughout this residency I explored shape poetry, asemic writing, found poetry, explored villanelles and haiku with a fantastic community of collaborators.
Other poetic participants in this cohort included:
Samantha Brown, County Louth, Ireland; Cheryl Chudyk, Seattle, USA; Doriana Diaz, Philadelphia, USA; Cathy Greenhalgh, London, UK; Thomas Mayer, Berlin, Germany; Janice McDonald, Colorado, USA; Rosemary Rae, San Diego, USA; Carla E. Reyes, New York, USA; Jennifer Roach, Chicago, USA; Laura Tafe, New Hampshire, USA; Jake Wiegel, California, USA.
*Work from this residency was featured in the Poetry x Collage Journal volumes Two & Seven. As of April 2025 members of this original cohort still meet with an expanded group and on a monthly basis in the form of Sunday Collage Club.
